We’re aware of questions about the recall notice affecting Salt of the Earth concerning the Cedar & Amyris line which specifically highlights the use of bay oil in our products.
We take product safety seriously and have addressed the matter with Health Canada.

We want to be clear about our position: there are currently no human studies presented or substantiated as the basis for concluding a carcinogenic risk in people. Because human evidence is not available in support of the claimed carcinogenic risk, we believe the basis for this action is not sufficiently supported - however Health Canada is taking a hard stance to align with the EU.
We are requesting a focused review of the carcinogenicity rationale, including the specific evidence being used to support the allegation and how conclusions are drawn without human data.
