Fir needles are often used to remedy sore throats and respiratory troubles - but the needles are also an effective and soothing muscle relaxant- perfect for tired feet.

Antifungal and anti-bacterial Rosemary serves as a great addition to this scrub as well -warding off fungal conditions like athletes foot.

Let's go foraging!

How do we identify Fir needles?

Fir needles are similar to spruce in that they are short and grow from a single point on the branch. They differ in their flattened appearance and wont roll as easily in your hands. You'll also find whitish lines on the undersides.

You'll need:

  1. 1/4 c Fir/Pine needles (be careful while harvesting, and choose new tender growth)
  2. A few sprigs fresh Rosemary
  3. 1/2 c Avocado oil (or oil of choice)
  4. 10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil ( Optional)
  5. 5 drops Fir Essential Oil (Optional)
  6. Fine grained sugar or salt (salt will sting when applied to open wounds)

Method:

1. Add essential Oils to Avocado Oil in a medium bowl and set aside

2. Whiz the Needles and Rosemary in a processor or grinder to obtain a fine mixture that no longer contains sharp ends.

4. Add needles to oil mixture

3. Add salt/sugar to mixture a couple tablespoons at a time and mix until it resembles a paste.
