FOR THE LOVE OF SALT....

FOR THE LOVE OF SALT....

Do you remember your teenage years?

I would rather not.

Besides my inability to "fit in", the bane of my existence was.... ACNE.

Foams, pads, gels, sprays, spot treatments - if you can name it, I've probably tried it.

I still remember feeling the burn and thinking "yes...its working!".

Well, it didn't work. Surprise surprise.

What they did do, though, is reveal an even angrier face underneath!

If only blemishes were a right of passage and remained firmly in the past (sigh).

Enter, salt.

Sodium chloride, the simple seasoning we use everyday, effectively exfoliates, cleanses, lifts away dirt and cleanses pores.

In Middle Age Rome, salt was such a valued good that soldiers were at times compensated with it. This salarium is the latin word from which is derived our modern day salary.

Himalayan and Sea salts are preferable to table salt, as they are less refined and have retained trace minerals such as calcium, potassium and magnesium, of which we are often deficient.  Exposure to these minerals allow the skin cells to absorb what is required, leaving the excess behind.

While consuming foods high in sodium leaves you thirsty, cleansing with salt calms irritated skin, aids in the restoration of our skin barrier and even reduces inflammatory response.

What's not to love?

Salt. Care naturally.
