What is Comfrey & Why It's in Our Natural Skincare Products

What is Comfrey?

Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) is a perennial herb native to Europe and Asia, long used in traditional herbal medicine. Its roots and leaves are rich in in a synergy of compounds clinically shown to promote cell regeneration, reduce inflammation, and accelerate wound healing.

What Does Comfrey Do for Skin?

  • Accelerates cell renewal — allantoin stimulates new skin cell growth, making it ideal for dry, damaged, or aging skin
  • Soothes inflammation — reduces redness, irritation, and sensitivity
  • Deeply moisturizes — comfrey extract helps skin retain moisture at a cellular level
  • Supports healing — traditionally used on scars, stretch marks, and rough patches

How SOTE Uses Comfrey

Is Comfrey Safe for Skin?

Yes — topical use of comfrey is well-established and considered safe.
