Golden milk, turmeric

WHAT THE SPICE? | WHAT IS GOLDEN MILK AND WHY DO I NEED IT IN MY LIFE?

I love a hot beverage.

Morning, evening, summer, winter - any time is tea time - and Golden Milk is a favourite.

Golden Milk originates in India, where export and consumption of turmeric trumps all other countries worldwide.

Why would that be?

Well, turmeric is a proven natural health heavyweight containing the active ingredient curcumin, the benefits of which are increased 2000 fold when used in conjunction with black pepper.

The major strengths of Curcumin include:

- Anti-inflammatory (maintains immunity and reduces inflammation)

- Anti-bacterial

- Anti-viral

- Anti-fungal

- Anti-oxidant

- Improves brain function

The list goes on!

So, why not give Golden Milk a try?

This beverage is delicious hot (maybe in the evening with a cozy blanket and a good book!), or iced on a warm summer day.

Let me know what you think!

What is golden milk?

GOLDEN MILK

1 cup milk (I prefer full fat coconut)

3 tsp fresh grated Turmeric powder (or 1 tsp turmeric powder)

2 tsp honey (or sweetener of choice)

1 tsp fresh grated ginger (1/2 tsp ginger powder)

1 pinch cardamom

1 pinch cinnamon

1 pinch clove

Directions

1. Pour milk into a saucepan, on medium-low heat until hot. Keep an eye on it!      Milk has a tendency to boil over.

2. Add all fresh and/or powdered spices

3. Turn down the heat to low and allow to steep at least 10 minutes.

4. Strain and sweeten

5. Savour
