SPRING INTO ALLERGY SEASON WITH CONFIDENCE IN 2025!

You have entered the realm of allergy and explanation season.

 

If you’re anything like me, you’re looking to exhibit at least 3 of these symptoms before being comfortably removed from the flu zone these days.

I dub it explanation season, because the need to constantly explain our tissue wielding behaviour is constant - that and finding new and "unsuspecting" ways to sneeze...

I’m almost immune to the side stare…almost!

In the meantime, each year I hone my inner herbalist to perfect my plant powered medicines. I’m not at all missing the drowsiness and digestive upset from OTC antihistamines.

You wont, either.

If you find your skin flares during this time of year, it’s time to switch up your shower routine. The cooler the shower the better!
I know, I know. But it works.

Follow up with soothing butters - shea is naturally anti-inflammatory and even more so when formulated with protective plant extracts.

Opt for naturally fragranced or fragrance-free creams.

My favourite herb of choice?

NETTLES, the gift that keeps on giving!

Make a long brew herbal infusion, store in a glass jar in the fridge and drink half cup twice a day until finished. Finish within the week. You can safely drink nettles throughout the entire allergy season.

How to make a long brew?

  1. Add a fourth cup of nettles to a 1L heat safe jar
  2. Cover with boiled hot water 
  3. Allow to rest on the counter with loose lid to cover
  4. Refrigerate when cool

 

 

Incorporating a diet rich with anti-inflammatory foods is key.

This means cutting down on the ultra processed snacks to enjoy the bounties of the harvest!

Cooking?

Add a bit more garlic to your meal.

Soothing mint tea with your breakfast. 

Hydrate with your nettle infusion throughout the day.

Cozy up with a book and some Ginger & Chamomile tea.

My personal favourite beverage of choice.....GOLDEN MILK.
